Agata Schmidt - mezzosopran / mezzo-sporano

Mezzosopranistka Agata Schmidt ukończyła z wyróżnieniem bydgoską Akademię Muzyczną w klasie prof. Hanny Michalak. Jest laureatką drugiej nagrody na Międzynarodowym Konkursie Grand Prix de l’Opera w Bukareszcie (2015) oraz nagrody za najlepsze wykonanie pieśni polskich na Międzynarodowym Konkursie Wokalnym im. Stanisława Moniuszki w Warszawie (2016). W latach 2011-2014 była uczestniczką programu Atelier Lyrique Opery Paryskiej. W Opéra Garnier zadebiutowała tytułową rolą w Orfeuszu i Eurydyce W. Ch. Glucka w inscenizacji Piny Bausch. Za tę rolę otrzymała dwie prestiżowe nagrody: Prix L’AROP i Prix Carpeaux dla najlepszego młodego śpiewaka 2014 roku. Artystka była również uczestniczką Akademii Operowej przy Teatrze Wielkim – Operze Narodowej, gdzie pracowała pod opieką Anity Garanči. W roli Orfeusza powróciła także do Palais Garnier w 2018 roku. Na scenach francuskich zadebiutowała także w rolach: Driady w Ariadnie na Naxos oraz Trzeciej nimfy w Rusałce w Opéra Bastille; tytułowego Orfeusza w Orfeuszu i Eurydyce w Opéra Bordeaux, tytułowej roli w Gwałcie na Lukrecj oraz w scenicznym wystawieniu Stabat Mater A. Dworzaka w Opéra national de Montpellier, Driady w Operze w Limoges a także Marty i Pantalisa w Mefistofelesie oraz Maddaleny w Rigoletto na deskach Opéra de Lyon. W 2016 roku zadebiutowała jako Trzecia Dama w Czarodziejskim flecie w Teatrze Wielkim – Operze Narodowej, a w następnych sezonach również jako Suzuki w Madame Butterfly. W sezonie 2021/22 wcieliła się w tytułową rolę Wandy w prapremierze światowej opery Wanda Joanny Wnuk Nazarowej. Z repertuarem kameralnym i oratoryjnym koncertowała, między innymi w Palais Garnier, Auditorium Maison de la Radio, Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie, NFM, Studio Polskiego Radia, Amphithéâtre de l’Opéra Bastille, Notre Dame de Paris, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, a także na europejskich festiwalach muzycznych w Aix-en-Provence, Verbier i Aldeburgh. Agata Schmidt jeszcze jako studentka rozpoczęła współpracę z pianistą Bartłomiejem Weznerem. Duet został doceniony na wielu konkursach muzycznych w tym: drugą nagrodą na VII Międzynarodowym Konkursie im. Karola Szymanowskiego w Łodzi, trzecią nagrodą oraz nagrodą za najlepsze wykonanie cyklu pieśni na XIV Międzynarodowym Konkursie Sztuki Wokalnej im. Ady Sari w Nowym Sączu, trzecią nagrodą na XVII Międzynarodowym Konkursie Kameralnym im. Kiejstuta Bacewicza w Łodzi. Sezon 2022/23 to m. in. Lied von der Erde Mahlera z l’Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, pod batutą S. Goetzel’a, oraz Stabat Mater Szymanowskiego pod batutą J. Kasprzyka w NFM. W sezonie 2023/24 wykona m.in. IX Symfonię Beethovena w Theatre de la ville de Luxemburg, Stabat Mater Dworzaka w Limoges.

Mezzo-soprano Agata Schmidt graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the class of Professor Hanna Michalak. She is the winner of the second prize at the Grand Prix de l’Opera International Competition in Bucharest (2015) and the prize for the best performance of Polish songs at the Stanisław Moniuszko International Vocal Competition in Warsaw (2016). From 2011 to 2014, she was a participant in the Paris Opera’s Atelier Lyrique program. She made her debut at the Opéra Garnier with the title role in W. Ch. Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice”, staged by Pina Bausch. For this role she received two prestigious awards: Prix L’AROP and Prix Carpeaux for the best young singer of 2014. The artist was also a participant in the Opera Academy at the Grand Theater – National Opera, where she worked under the tutelage of Anita Garanči. She also returned to the Palais Garnier in 2018 in the role of Orpheus. She also made her debut on French stages in the roles of: Dryad in “Ariadne auf Naxos” and the Third Nymph in “Rusalka” at the Opéra Bastille; the title role of Orpheus in “Orpheus et Eurydice” at the Opéra Bordeaux, the title role in “The Rape of Lucretia”, and in the stage production of A. Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater” at the Opéra national de Montpellier, the Dryad at the Opéra de Limoges and also Martha and Pantalis in “Mephistopheles” and Maddalena in “Rigoletto” at the Opéra de Lyon. In 2016, she made her debut as the Third Lady in “Die Zauberflöte” at the Grand Theater – National Opera, and in the following seasons also as Suzuki in “Madama Butterfly”. In the 2021/22 season, she played the title role of Wanda in the world premiere of the opera “Wanda” by Joanna Wnuk Nazarova. She has performed chamber and oratorio repertoire, including concerts at Palais Garnier, Auditorium Maison de la Radio, Warsaw National Philharmonic, NFM, Polish Radio Studio, Amphithéâtre de l’Opéra Bastille, Notre Dame de Paris, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and European music festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Verbier and Aldeburgh. Agata Schmidt began working with pianist Bartłomiej Wezner while still a student. The duo has been recognized at many music competitions, including: second prize at the 7th International Karol Szymanowski Competition in Lodz, third prize and prize for the best performance of a song cycle at the 14th Ada Sari International Competition of Vocal Art in Nowy Sacz, third prize at the 17th International Kiejstut Bacewicz Chamber Music Competition in Lodz. The 2022/23 season includes Mahler’s “Lied von der Erde” with the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, conducted by S. Goetzel, and Szymanowski’s “Stabat Mater” under the baton of J. Kasprzyk at the NFM. In the 2023/24 season she will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the Theatre de la ville de Luxemburg, Dvorák’s “Stabat Mater” in Limoges, among others.
