Musical Autumn in Krakow

Krakow Musical Autumn has been founded by Jan Kalinowski and Marek Szlezer to fill and balance the panorama of classical music festivals in Poland and in the city of Krakow as there was no short, condensed musical event in its’ cultural offer, which would combine popular, classical repertoire with promotion of modern music. The program idea of the festival, which has been taking place since 2014, is combining contemporary works and works by Polish composers with the most popular repertoire for presented instruments or ensembles.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Audience,

we feel delighted that for the eighth time we can, together with the Karol Szymanowski Krakow Philharmonic, invite you to participate in the Krakow Musical Autumn. This is due to the interest of listeners and the support of our idea by the City of Krakow, which we would like to thank for including the festival in the panorama of Krakow’s cultural life. The festival would not also take place without financial support of ZAiKS, MARR and the construction company EXERT.

When planning the program of the eighth edition of the festival, we focused on making it diverse. In its range of various genres, we wanted to find a common denominator which is the unique beauty of chamber music. That is why this year you can listen to Astor Piazzolla's tangos on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Argentinian composer’s birth as well as pieces from the canon of world chamber music. For the first time, early music will be present on our festival, but there will also be piano works by Fryderyk Chopin and the modern music by Polish and foreign composers, including the world premiere of a piece by Anna Zawadzka-Gołosz, commissioned and written especially for the eighth edition of the Krakow Music Autumn as part of the program "Composing Commissions" of the National Institute of Music and Dance.

We hope that we will meet you at the Philharmonic and experience the most beautiful emotions together!

We are happy that you have been with us for eight years now!
